Anup Singh is the Co-Founder & Chief Scientific Officer of InnaMed, a molecular diagnostics company specializing in bio-marker-guided therapies.
As an early-stage start-up, InnaMed needed local employees who had the relevant experience. The problem was that Anup’s existing contacts were primarily within academia. He had no connections that would help with finding local talent.
The other issue was a lack of information. InnaMed needed to know an employee’s willingness to leave their company as well as how to know their willingness to work at a lower salary in exchange for equity.
Anup started by reaching out to professors he knew for referrals. However, they were unable to find someone who was both qualified and willing to work for less than they currently earn.
They tried various methods and agencies to find the right hires. However, they were unable to find the kind of quality candidates that are required to make a start-up successful.
Prior recruiters had claimed they worked with start-ups, yet Anup was unable to find one with actual experience in that arena.
Anup’s fortune changed when he partnered with Connexis. They laid out their exact process step by step.
Connexis reached out to their private network of professionals for referrals and recommendations. Those unwilling to consider equity instead of a high base salary were filtered out of the process before reaching InnaMed. Instead, Connexis provided multiple industry veterans who were ready to join the start-up.
Connexis also handled the logistics: setting up meetings between potential hires and Anup. Anup appreciated that Connexis had the flexibility to work with a start-up.
Within six weeks, Connexis had already helped InnaMed hire a microfluidics engineer.
When asked about his experience, he replied that he was “happy with the process” and liked that “they were on the same page.” Anup would “recommend [Connexis] to another group.” He looks forward to continuing InnaMed’s partnership with Connexis Search Group.
